Have your say – a review of the Strata and Community Title Laws
Earlier this year there was an online consultation on NSW strata reform and since the forum closed, the State Government has been reading and considering the many comments and suggestions put forward.
The Minister for Fair Trading, the Hon. Anthony Roberts, MP, has recently announced that strata living in New South Wales is set to change with the preparation of a discussion paper covering the points raised in the online consultation. They have also extensively researched the contemporary laws in other places to see how they have tackled the problems we are experiencing here. (The NSW strata laws have previously been adopted around the world). Practical options suggested by the NSW strata community have also been considered.
It is anticipated that the discussion paper will be released in September for comment over a two month period, and the NSW Fair Trading website will host an easy on-line response form where you can register your details to be kept informed of progress throughout the review.
We will keep you posted as soon as the paper is released.
