Size up cost of living before you seal deal

Sydney Morning Herald recently posted an article about considering the size of the complex you are thinking of buying into. “Potential buyers should definitely take note of the size of the development,” urges Daniel Linders, Group Managing Director of strata management company Strata Choice, as the size of a project will often have an effect on the buildings final finishes and ongoing fees. Purchasers should also take into consideration the type of complex they wish to reside in.

Enticing display suites for off-the-plan apartments may contribute to potential purchasers not taking into account the scale of the project they are viewing.

Nightmarish Noisy Neighbours

Noise complaints are one of the top 10 strata complaints received by the Department of Fair Trading each year. Some are weird and wacky, such as the complaint about an owner who was overhauling his car engine in his lounge room. However the most common noise complaints range from loud music, conversation and noisy pets to general living activities.

We all wish to enjoy our homes without noise disturbances and most strata schemes have by-laws in place to deal with noise issues. It is a good idea to familiarise yourself with any noise by-laws which are in place for your strata scheme.
